Problem Definition
Imagine some natural science lesson in usual school – it may be physics, chemistry or geography. Teacher leads the lesson, explain new topic to students, and for more clearness make illustrations on the blackboard. But these drawings – they are static and motionless; they do not illustrate process in motion and therefore less understandable. Also they do not allow to student to participate in process, touch it, make changes and observe the effect.
Making a real experiment – that’s may be a solution in some cases, and they conducted in schools of course. But this approach has its own problems – real experiment takes too much time to perform, so it can’t be performed very often and for every aspect; they are limited in functionality and not flexible enough, and besides some of them are impossible to realize in school, due to complexity, high cost or safety risk.
Thereby we see the main problem – it’s insufficiency of visualization on natural science’s lessons, which leads to the insufficiency of interest from the students and therefore the insufficiency of their knowledge and low quality of education.
Vision Statement
The ultimate vision of Doska Solution is in creating system which will help to bring better education for all students using modern concepts, technologies and methodologies. Using innovation approach we give the beginning to the new concept of interactive education. Sending a challenge to ordinary schemas and evolutional development we introduce superior product which, as we hope, greatly amaze the users.
Based on philosophy of searching radical solutions for complex technical problems, using ultramodern methods and processes, we want to change the current conception of education. In such way we aim to giving people better life and better future.
Imagine that you draw something on the board – and this become alive, it becomes to act like the real world object. Imagine that you able to share such drawing with your mate who is a thousand kilometers away – and you will be able to move objects together.
In the same time we do not reject the real experiments in schools – on the contrary, real experiments in schools shows the high rate of efficiency and attract students, boosting their challenge in education and in natural sciences. What is proposed – it’s using Doska Solution in parallel mode. It will raise the understanding of learning material and therefore the quality of education.
Solution’s Concept
The primary concept of Doska project was creating easy-to-use simulators for mechanics, electronics and chemistry and creating convenient environment for collaborative work with it and for using it in education process. Application should work on different platforms – Desktop and Table PC and user should have the possibility to use stylus to draw objects the same way as drawing on paper using pen – application should recognize what was drawn.
The target of this project is not creating precise and complicate professional simulator for scientific research – we aim to make it available for wide audience, in order to make education process attractive and easy.
As an ideal – all that is now drawn on the board and stays static and sad – will be drawn in Doska Simulator and will move according to the laws of nature.
But from the other site it is obvious that developing simulators for all areas of science and technology by small team – it’s almost impossible task, since it will required too many time and resources. And besides users probably will have different opinions on how each simulator should behave, what should the precision and what render style to use. All these considerations lead to the second most important part of concept: Doska – it is not just a one-two simulator, it is a framework for simulators, this is general interface and rich library which allows for third-party developers to create their own simulators and use them in Doska environment.
